Water Meadows

In the 13th century, the Cistercian monks of St. Urban developed a sophisticated trench system, laying the foundation for the extensive irrigation system in the Langetental. The age-old flooding times and practices are kept even today.

Hiking suggestions:
•Langenthal - Roggwil (1 hour), Return by train from Roggwil
•Langenthal - Kaltenherberge Roggwil - Muementalerweier - Höchi - Muniberg - Aarwangen (2-1/2 hours), Return by train from Aarwangen
•St. Urban - Walliswil - Roggwil (1 hour) - Murgenthal (1-1/2 hours), Take train from Langenthal to St. Urban, then return by train from Roggwil or Murgenthal
•Madiswil - Lotzwil - Langenthal (2 hours), Train from Langenthal to Madiswil
